Leading international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has announced the promotion of 10 new Executive Counsel in Australia. The promotions are a part of the firm’s annual global Counsel promotion round and will come into effect from 1 May 2024.

Kristin Stammer, Executive Partner - Asia and Australia, said the new appointments recognise the high performance of each new Counsel in their practice areas and their exceptional client focus.

Charlotte Cameron, Perth – Corporate (Equity Capital Markets and M&A) 

Charlotte is a corporate lawyer who specialises in equity capital markets. With over 13 years of experience and beginning her career at Herbert Smith Freehills, she now works with the Corporate team in Perth and was previously part of the Equity Capital Markets team in Sydney. Charlotte has advised on equity capital raisings (including initial public offerings and secondary capital raisings) and hybrid raisings and has acted for both issuers and underwriters/lead managers on these transactions. Charlotte has also advised on mergers and acquisitions including private and public company M&A along with general corporate and commercial advisory matters across a range of sectors. 

Anna Coroneo, Sydney – Corporate (Head Office Advisory and ESG)

Anna is a member of Herbert Smith Freehills’ Head Office Advisory Team (HOAT) and is an expert in ESG, market disclosure, shareholder activism and other board and executive-level governance issues. She advises a broad range of clients on strategic governance issues, including both listed and unlisted entities. One of Anna’s areas of speciality is financial services governance, including the Banking Executive Accountability Regime, Financial Accountability Regime and prudential governance and remuneration requirements. Anna started her career at Herbert Smith Freehills and has practised for over 12 years.

Jacques Giuffre, Perth – Projects, Energy & Infrastructure (Technology and IP)

Jacques is the Perth technology and IP practice lead, advising on a range of strategic and complex technology transactions. Jacques is an experienced commercial lawyer, advising on technology procurement, commercialisation and disputes as well as intellectual property licensing and protection. Jacques’ focus areas include digital transformation, outsourcing, operational technology, critical infrastructure, data use and privacy, cyber security, R&D collaborations and IP-heavy transactions. He has a broad practice across a range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, not-for-profits, state and local governments. Jacques started his career at Herbert Smith Freehills and has practiced for 11 years.

Aaron Hayward, Sydney – Disputes (Intellectual Property)

Aaron is an experienced intellectual property litigator who has advised and acted for clients in international and national matters in both Australia and the UK. He particularly specialises in litigation involving complex technology in the high-tech and life sciences sectors, and his experience extends across all aspects of intellectual property protection including patents, copyright, trademarks, confidential information, passing off, parallel importation, and consumer law. Aaron started his career at Herbert Smith Freehills and has been with the firm for over 15 years, having worked in both our Sydney and London offices in that time.
